Sometimes, during an asana, when we guide you to go as much as you feel safe, it doesn’t mean you are ought to feel no pain. On the contrary, it means we handle an acceptable amount of pain. Too much pain is disorienting. But acceptable pain is a guide. Pushing us past old or imaginary limits. Helping us grow. Yoga changes our perception of one of life’s greatest and least popular teachers: pain.
We’ve learnt that pain is an undesirable stranger. Looming over you with a knife. However, during your posture, if you look closer, sometimes it is not a knife in his hand but a scythe. To cut out what is holding you back in the field of your potential. Lean into the safe stretch. Embrace acceptable pain. Revel in the beautiful discomfort of growth.
